a new (hopefully) quitter

I decided to quit today. I'm 29,stop smoking, started when I was 12. I go through about a carton a week, and am tired of the cost, the smell, the ashtrays, the cough, and missing out on things because I have to go outside or into my computer room every 20 minutes. The computer room is the only smoky room in the house. I decided to quit at 4pm today. I threw away a pack and a half, tossed one ashtray into the sink to soak, hid another in a drawer that never gets used, and threw away the ashtray in my car. Since I decided to quit cold turkey, I have smoked 2. How sad that I find myself digging in the trash to retrieve "just one more" from the open pack I threw away. Tomorrow should be the actual quit day, I hope. I don't usually like a smoke first thing in the morning, so if I can make it through tomorrow, I should do ok. I hope. I think I may take the cigarettes out of the trash and toss them in the sink in the ashtray. I won't smoke wet,Herbal cigarettes, soapy cigarettes. I don't think I will, anyway! I hope to come back to this site tomorrow evening and say that I made it through the day. I always thought I could quit at any time, but I was wrong.... it's harder than it looks.
