In all of my quit attempts over the years, I never understood the importance of having a good support network in place. Yes, I had people in my life who wanted me to stop smoking and cheered me on, but their interest in my success dwindled within weeks. It's not that they didn't care, it's just that they didn't understand that recovery from nicotine addiction is a process that unfolds over time. I quickly got involved and never looked back.
